Defense and Weapons Safety Classes

For the Kids

  • Eddie Eagle Program
    A children’s firearm safety awareness class. This program emphasizes "Stop, Don’t Touch, Walk Away, and Tell An Adult". This program uses a lovable cartoon character and is meant for younger children as an initial lesson for firearm safety. Early learning helps to remove the stigma of firearms and gives children an acceptable solution if a firearm is found.

  • Teachers Education
    This program is a seminar for teachers and other child care providers to give them the needed skills for safely handling situations involving firearms. This class will cover physical safety features of a wide variety of firearms and also discuss some of the legal ramifications of firearm discovery.

  • Refuse To Be A Victim ($20 /person)
    This class is a short seminar intended to increase awareness and improve self-reliance in potential emergency situations. Everyday situations with real consequences and real solutions to help any individual in the eventuality of a critical situation. This class does not emphasize weapons training and instead focuses on mental preparedness and sharp observation needed to avoid problems before they develop.

    Class time: 3 hours
    Requirements: None

  • First Steps: Pistol, Rifle & Shotgun ($50 /person)
    Designed for the first time gun owner emphasizing safe gun handling techniques and proper maintenance of a specific firearm. This class is not limited to any particular type of firearm and is generally a one on one class to familiarize one owner with their particular firearm.

    Class Time: 3-4 hours
    Requirements: None

  • Intermediate: Pistol, Rifle & Shotgun ($100 /person)
    This is a more comprehensive class regarding the selection of firearm prior to purchase. This class is meant for those who have little to no experience with firearms and are looking for more information about function, safety and use of all kinds of firearms.

    Class time: 10-14 hours
    Requirements: None

  • Home Firearm Safety ($35 /person)
    A short and to-the-point class about just what it says, safely maintaining a firearm in your home. This class covers the legal and moral implications of keeping a firearm in your home as well realistic storage methods for a variety of situations.

    Class time: 4 hours

  • Personal Protection In The Home ($100 /person)
    This is a more involved class regarding multiple aspects of defending a residence. Topics include fortifying a home from intruders, basics of generating an emergency action plan, details and suggestions to increase the defensibility of your home.

    Class time: 8 hours
    Requirements: Safety glasses, hearing protection, a defensive quality firearm, a sturdy belt and side holster, 200+ rounds of ammunition.

  • Personal Protection Outside the Home ($100 /person) Coming Soon!
    Where Personal Protection Inside the Home shows you the plans and materials you need to strengthen your defense inside your home, this class takes that same attitude and skill set outside the home. You will learn to defend yourself in a variety of common situations from your daily life.

    Class time: 9-14 Hours

  • Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) ($100 /person)
    Plumas County ONLY
    This is a certification training class borrowing largely from Personal Protection in the Home. This class fulfills the required training for Plumas County Permit To Carry Concealed Weapons and covers the basics of safety, defensive shooting, and legal responsibilities surrounding carrying concealed weapons.

    Class time: 16 hours
    Requirements: Safety glasses, hearing protection, a defensive quality firearm, a sturdy belt and side holster, 200+ rounds of ammunition.

  • Concealed Carry Renewal ($50 /person)
    Plumas County ONLY
    This class is fulfills the re-certification requirements for Plumas county and offers the opportunity to acquire a Utah CCW as well.

    Class time: 4 hrs during CCW class.
    Requirements: Safety glasses, hearing protection, a defensive quality firearm, a sturdy belt and side holster, 200+ rounds of ammunition.

  • Carry Concealed Weapon for Utah ONLY ($50 /person)
    This is certification training for the Permit to Carry Concealed Weapons in the state of Utah. This permit is one of the most widely recognized permits in the United States being valid in a number of states. Although this permit is not valid in California it is extremely useful for any traveler.

    Class time: 3-4 hours
    Requirements: None

  • Advanced Carry Skills: Pistol ($100 /person)
    The basic skills of carrying concealed are just that, the basics. This class is meant to give you an opportunity to hone you skills to the defensive edge that will help you survive a critical encounter. This class includes a voluntary night shoot to instill light discipline and tactics.

    Class time: 16 hours
    Requirements: Safety glasses, hearing protection, a defensive quality firearm, 500+ rounds of ammunition, a sturdy belt and side holster, three magazines or 2 speed loaders with a belt holster, concealment clothing.

  • Tactical Flashlight ($35 /person)
    Included in Advanced Carry Skills
    Most defensive situations don’t happen during the daylight, they happen in the dark because the predator feels more in control in the dark. The ability to use a flashlight with forethought and skill will give you another edge to assist you in any critical encounter.

    Class time: 3 hours
    Requirements: A tactical quality flashlight, a sturdy belt and side holster, 100+ rounds of ammunition

  • Edged Weapon Combat ($35 /person)
    Even the most prepared citizen may not always have their firearm with them and a basic understanding of edged weapon combat can better prepare you for any eventuality. This course covers basic defense against and use of edged weapons.

    Class time: 2-4 hours
    Requirements: Tactical knife of your choice.

  • Tier I Survival ($35 /person)
    This is not a crawling through the bush eating bugs kind of class, relax and read on. This is an everyday survival course regarding the necessary mentality and some basic items that will increase your survivability in an emergency situation.

    Class time: 2-4 hours
